19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with former coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an better serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
